Champions of Greed
Luke 12:13-21
New International Version 1984 (NIV1984)
Someone in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.” Jesus replied, “Man, who appointed me a judge or an arbiter between you?” Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; a man’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.” And he told them this parable: “The ground of a certain rich man produced a good crop. He thought to himself, ‘What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.’ “Then he said, ‘This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. And I’ll say to myself, “You have plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.”’ “But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’ “This is how it will be with anyone who stores up things for himself but is not rich toward God.”
If you are not "rich toward God", that would mean you do not have Christformation in you. How can you have Christformation in you, if you have been greedy for the things of this world? What more if, you have earned a title for yourself in this world that would show you as 'Champions of greed'. That would mean, you had appeared as a very 'clever' man or woman when it came to 'greed for more'. You have been an example of 'greed for more'.An example of covetousness! An example of abomination before the Lord! You have been as greedy as the grave that does not stop swallowing up the dead! Only a fool will take life easy; eat, drink and be merry. You can' have the best of both because living to please the sinful nature of the Devil in you is the root of all evil. When you say " take life easy, let's eat, drink and be merry" it shows that you only live to please the sinful nature of the Devil in you.
Matthew 6:23-25
New International Version 1984 (NIV1984)
But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness! “No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money. “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?
