Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is on earthly things.
A people who keep mentioning of God all the time but in everything they do, they only bring shame to God. All of their actions bring shame and disgrace to God and his kingdom. The god that they mention all the time in their lips here is just to deceive simple minds and there are these people with simple and shallow minds around them and they are satisfied with being easily deceived. Their god is their stomach and no wonder their minds are so shallow . Everything is centered around their stomachs. Their stomachs become their god. They worship their stomachs. Food is all they need. Real ugly gluttons. All the time they are only seen eating. Their stomachs are their god, even though their mouths are full of food, they keep mentioning God all the time. These they do, to avoid feeling guilty of gluttony and greed. Their mind can never be transformed into the mind of Christ even though their mouths are always mentioning of Him. Even when they mention God's name, which they frequently do, their mind and heart is far away from Him. They mention His name just to keep abreast with things. Their mind is fixed on earthly things. Their take glory in things that are shameful for others. They don't care if they do bring shame to God. They just stubbornly continue in them. Will there be an end to all these? Yes, there will be soon! They know that they are on the pathway of destruction but they stubbornly insist on taking that path. They act very smart at that too, as though they know everything about God and God has to 'beg' at their feet. A people robbed of their rationality. Do you think that this deception will go on any longer? No! Watch what happens to them next, closely.
Mark 7: 6-9
He replied, "Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you hypocrites; as it is written: " 'These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.They worship me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men.' You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to the traditions of men." And he said to them: "You have a fine way of setting aside the commands of God in order to observe your own traditions!
