We need to look at this verse carefully and understand fully what it says about our public confession of our faith in Christ.Generally, this verse is being misunderstood with it's exact meaning.
Romans 10:9-10 (New International Version)
That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.
This confession of our faith that "Jesus is Lord" is not to be confined within 'four walls'.This confession must be shown in our daily conversations and public conduct wherever we go. We don't just confess our faith that Jesus is Lord on Sundays and go on swearing and cursing from Monday to Saturday. This is where the deception lies, beware!
What we do from Monday to Saturday should reflect what we are on Sunday. Often this is not the case. The opposite is true. Even on Sundays, right within that 'four walls, the conversations between one another will not reflect their true beliefs or their 'true beliefs' will show otherwise through their talk. The confessions of our mouth in what we believe must continue outside of that 'four walls' but it doesn't.
The general conduct and practice will show far from the truth of Romans 10: 9-10.
The Lord Jesus Christ commanded us to 'go out out of the tent' and carry that message with our Christ-formed conduct but that doesn't happen. The public confessions will be contrary to what the Holy Spirit in us is urging us to do.
There will be willful disobedience to the Holy Spirit in all that is done. This is not what God requires of us. Are we only trying to please men with our outward form of religiousity but do not fear God who can see our thoughts and actions all the time. to be continued....
