Matthew 23:37-39
New International Version (NIV)
“Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing. Look, your house is left to you desolate. For I tell you, you will not see me again until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.’”
If you live obeying the sinful nature of the Devil in you, you are likened to a desolate house. You will become desolate even though at one time you boasted of all your earthly possessions. These possessions of yours are of no eternal value. They will pass away but in the end you will become desolate in God's eyes. Put to death greed and selfish ambition which come out of the devilish nature. Selfish ambition was never from God. It was never found in the divine nature of Christ. How is it that, after you have come to know and believe in Jesus Christ the Lord, you still have that sinful nature of the Devil in you, when He does not have them. Is it true that you have believed in Him and that you belong to Him?
