Hebrews 4:12
For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
Many of us think that God is dead. He isn't dead. For that's how we behave towards one another, as though He is dead. He is alive. He can hear and see. He can touch you. He can be present right where you are. He speaks. He watches everything that happens on Earth. In fact, there is nothing that He does not know. He knows everything that takes place here and everywhere in this universe. Some of us know this and yet we do not fear Him. We still go about without fear or reverence for Him. If the word of God is living, surely He is alive. If the word of God is active, then He is alive. Don't you think so? How can God's word be active, if He isn't alive?
God's word that proceeds out of His mouth is powerful. It cuts. It penetrates. It divides. It judges your thoughts and attitudes of your heart if they are right or wrong. God's word spoken to you will never return to Him without being effective on you. It will accomplish what God wills in your life. Even though you may rebel and reject God's word to you now, because of the pride and stubborness within you, one day, His word will accomplish what He had willed for you. It will never return to God empty without it's power on you. You are going to experience it's power over you. God's word will come to you in many ways so that you take heed. All part of the scripture, that is the word of God will do something within you because it's powerful. If God's word doesn't do anything within you, it might be that you are rebellious or stubborn or unbelieving.
2 Timothy 3:16-17
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
You can be equipped through your obedience to God's word daily. If you attend a Bible School, it may not necessarily mean that you are obedient to God's word. Many of us have been decieved of this. There are God's people who never enrolled into a Bible School before and yet they obey God's word. At the same time, there are those who have enrolled and yet do not obey God's word in their lives. Equipping is for all. We all have to be equipped not simply but thoroughly. So, without obedience to all that Christ had commanded, there would be no equipping. Equipping means obedience. Obedience means Christformation in you. So, Equipping is Christformation in you.
Without Christformation in you, there would be no good works from you. Good works are not shallow works. They come from the born-again spirit in you. They come from the depth of you. Good work is not something that pleases the sinful nature of the Devil in you or bring pleasure to it. It proceeds out from the divine nature of Christ that is formed in your born again spirit. Your transformed mind will then respond to doing good not evil. If your mind responds by doing evil, then there is something wrong. Ask yourself, is Christ being formed in me?
"Sharper" than two-edged sword is God's written and spoken word. Why "sharper" have you ever given it a thought ? Why does God need His word to be "sharper than a two-edged sword"? God's word does cut you sharply. He rebukes you sharply. We need to be rebuked sharply because of the sinful nature of the Devil in us. It must die. The word of God which is "sharper" than two-edged sword, will put to death the sinful nature of the Devil in you, when you obey it, or live according to what God the Holy Spirit is reminding you about whatever Christ had commanded.
