Judges 6:11-16
The angel of the LORD came and sat down under the oak in Ophrah that belonged to Joash the Abiezrite, where his son Gideon was threshing wheat in a winepress to keep it from the Midianites. When the angel of the LORD appeared to Gideon, he said, "The LORD is with you, mighty warrior." "But sir," Gideon replied, "if the LORD is with us, why has all this happened to us? Where are all his wonders that our fathers told us about when they said, 'Did not the LORD bring us up out of Egypt?' But now the LORD has abandoned us and put us into the hand of Midian." The LORD turned to him and said, "Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian's hand. Am I not sending you?" "But Lord, " Gideon asked, "how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family." The LORD answered, "I will be with you, and you will strike down all the Midianites together."
God uses the least and the weakest to bring about His will on Earth, when men and women are filled with selfish pride, arrogance and boasting of self. It's easy to fool man but you can never fool God. He will just choose to use the humble and downtrodden to accomplish His will on Earth. Gideon was such a man. He was just threshing wheat in a winepress when God called and send him for His mission to strike down the evil Midianites. Gideon felt he was a 'nobody' to do God's work. God didn't think so! So was the prophet of the Lord named Daniel. He didn't think of himself to be worthy of doing God's work. The LORD assured the both of them that they were accepted of God to do the work. Clan, family, personal qualifications and approval aren't necessary with God's call. If He chooses you so that the work of God is completed through you, you will have no say but obey Him and His call. Your family and clan may not think so, but God does. God assured them that what was important is, God is with them. He doesn't care about what others would think of them. God knows whom He has prepared for the ultimate job. God prepared Moses, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Isaiah, Elijah, Elisha and other prophets to do the ultimate job during their times, but none of them felt worthy of the call of God. Eventually, when the need arose, they accomplished God's will on Earth. That's what was important and required of God! Gideon defeated the Midianites with a small and insignificant number with him in that war. God wanted it that way, so that there will be no boasting of man's might. It's God who gives us victory, not numbers or size with big numbers of men around us.
Ezekiel 2: 6-9
And you, son of man, do not be afraid of them or their words. Do not be afraid, though briers and thorns are all around you and you live among scorpions. Do not be afraid of what they say or terrified by them, though they are a rebellious house. You must speak my words to them, whether they listen or fail to listen, for they are rebellious. But you, son of man, listen to what I say to you. Do not rebel like that rebellious house; open your mouth and eat what I give you." Then I looked, and I saw a hand stretched out to me. In it was a scroll,
