2 Peter 2:14-15
With eyes full of adultery, they never stop sinning; they seduce the unstable; they are experts in greed--an accursed brood! They have left the straight way and wandered off to follow the way of Balaam son of Beor, who loved the wages of wickedness.
As long as you still have that accursed thing in your hand, thinking that no one can get it out of your hand, everything around you will turn into a curse for you, from here on. One thing after another will destroy you completely (eventually).Until you are forced to let go off that accursed thing out of your hand, the curse will remain with you. Remember, who was Balaam at first and what did he turn out to be in the end and why? Greed made him an accursed man. Greed made him leave the straight way and wander off looking for the wages of wickedness. What is the wage of wickedness? The wage of wickedness is anything you grab out of your greed for yourself or selves, leaving nothing for others. Leaving the straight way to become experts in greed- an accursed brood! We were never called out to be experts in greed. There was an individual who met the Lord Jesus Christ while He was on Earth. He had all the money in the world. He also kept all the commandments of God but when he was told to sell everything he owned and give it to the poor, he walked away from the Lord. He said that he couldn't obey the Lord Jesus Christ with that. You are supposed to obey the Lord Jesus Christ and everything He commands. That 'rich' fool couldn't obey Christ our Lord there. He walked away losing his very self because of greed, for he said he had great wealth and he couldn't part with it. He was an expert in greed but he wasn't an expert in understanding what the Lord Jesus Christ wants from him. He had a dull mind. A dull mind that comes from obeying the sinful nature of the Devil in him. He weighed the pleasures he could get from the sinful nature of the Devil in him and walked away, not desiring the divine nature of Christ to be formed in him. The Lord Jesus Christ told him that he had to give up pleasing the sinful nature of the Devil in him, if he wanted His divine nature to be formed in him. He walked away saying he preferred obeying the sinful nature of the Devil in him. It gives him lots of pleasure with all the money he has got. He worked for that money but the wages were "wages of wickedness" because it fueled him to obey the selfish and sensual part of him, which was the sinful nature of the Devil in him. In the end, the Devil remained his master forever. He chose that way of Balaam for himself.
John 12; 24-26
I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. The man who loves his life will lose it, while the man who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me.
