Mark 8:17-21
Aware of their discussion, Jesus asked them: "Why are you talking about having no bread? Do you still not see or understand? Are your hearts hardened? Do you have eyes but fail to see, and ears but fail to hear? And don't you remember? When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many basketfuls of pieces did you pick up?" "Twelve," they replied. "And when I broke the seven loaves for the four thousand, how many basketfuls of pieces did you pick up?"They answered, "Seven." He said to them, "Do you still not understand?"
The Lord Jesus said to His disciples, "You do not know what I am taking about here" I am talking about 'yeast' and you are discussing about 'bread'.I was saying be careful of the 'yeast of the Pharisees and that of Herod'. Why can't you understand what I am talking about here? Why is your understanding so dull? You see, your mind is always on 'bread' alone all the time, so anything I say brings your thought back to 'bread'. That's bad, He said. I am talking about what is bad for you and you can't see it because you are made blind by the Devil. You can't understand anything beyond 'bread'.Anything you say has to do with earthly and fleshly things and nothing else. You always try to justify yourselves why you need 'bread' but never see the 'yeast of the Pharisees and that of Herod' that is destroying you within. The yeast is hidden and it permeates to every part. This 'yeast' corrupts everyone who come into contact with you. It comes from these influential men like you mentioned above. It makes you and others unclean before God and you do not care. If all that you are discussing about concerns your stomachs only, then when are you going to learn that the 'yeast of the Pharisees and that of Herod' is destroying you? You seem to be worried about survival all the time until you do not care about your relationship with Me. Your mind is always on things that are here today and gone tomorrow. I am talking about things that do not go away from you. Why is your heart so hardened and darkened in sin? Why do you enjoy sinning and try to justify your sinful ways all the time? You don't have to justify your evil ways. Just enjoy it quietly. Are you feeling guilty if you don't? If you are feeling guilty for all the sins you commit, don't continue in them then, It's as simple as that and you won't have to waste your effort trying to justify your evil acts to everyone. Don't you realize that everyone can see what you are trying to justify?
1 Corinthians 5:6-8
Your boasting is not good. Don't you know that a little yeast works through the whole batch of dough? Get rid of the old yeast that you may be a new batch without yeast--as you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. Therefore let us keep the Festival, not with the old yeast, the yeast of malice and wickedness, but with bread without yeast, the bread of sincerity and truth.
