Revelation 18: 1-3
After all this I saw another angel come down from heaven with great authority, and the earth grew bright with his splendor. He gave a mighty shout, "Babylon is fallen -- that great city is fallen! She has become the hideout of demons and evil spirits, a nest for filthy buzzards, and a den for dreadful beasts. For all the nations have drunk the wine of her passionate immorality. The rulers of the world have committed adultery with her, and merchants throughout the world have grown rich as a result of her luxurious living."
May it be the Tower of Babel, the Babylon during the times of the major prophets or the Babylon of Revelation 17, the walls have to come down first. God brings down the walls surrounding Babylon. Within those walls are all the abomination. All the demons and evil spirits treat Babylon as their hideout, nest and den. These are very morally dreadful and filthy beings. This is where immorality is promoted. The attraction is luxurious living. You have to give up your legitimate relationship with God to start an illegitimate relationship with this very evil Babylon. People who obey the sinful nature of the Devil in them go to it for luxurious living. They don't mind this evil association as long as it makes them rich. These are merchants, real evil and greedy merchants. They will do anything to become rich with the wealth of this evil Babylon. These are evil rulers with no conscience. Their conscience is already dead, seared with hot iron. Drunkards who cover up their sins blaming insobriety. They have made themselves as enemies of God.They like to be known as the enemies of God. They promote all kinds of evil under the sun in the name of prosperity. They corrupt the whole world without any qualms or shame. They have no shame. They know no shame. They have no respect for the things of God, for they think that they are 'God'. No one can move or remove them here on Earth. Babylon have become very powerful they boast. No one can or should stand on their way, they warn arrogantly. They forget that there is God, our LORD, who is sovereign over all men and women, regardless of who you are or have become. He rules the Earth. They forget that there is One who is righteous, just and holy. They are blinded to this because they live enjoying the sinful nature of the Devil in them every minute. They enjoy the darkness of their souls and the death of their spirits. They join the demons and all the evil spirits to come against God, our LORD. Babylon has been prophesied to fall. The walls around it has to fall first before the whole city falls, never to rise again. That's how it has been for Babylon and that's how it is going to be now too. If it is the house for demons then it has to be destroyed by God our LORD.
Jeremiah 51:52-64
"Yes," says the LORD, "but the time is coming when Babylon's idols will be destroyed. The groans of her wounded people will be heard throughout the land. Though Babylon reaches as high as the heavens, and though she increases her strength immeasurably, I will send enemies to plunder her," says the LORD. Listen! Hear the cry of Babylon, the sound of great destruction from the land of the Babylonians. For the LORD is destroying Babylon. He will silence her. Waves of enemies pound against her; the noise of battle rings through the city. Destroying armies come against Babylon. Her mighty men are captured, and their weapons break in their hands. For the LORD is a God who gives just punishment, and he is giving Babylon all she deserves. "I will make drunk her officials, wise men, rulers, captains, and warriors," says the King, whose name is the LORD Almighty. "They will fall asleep and never wake up again!" This is what the LORD Almighty says: "The wide walls of Babylon will be leveled to the ground, and her high gates will be burned. The builders from many lands have worked in vain, for their work will be destroyed by fire!" The prophet Jeremiah gave this message to Zedekiah's staff officer, Seraiah son of Neriah and grandson of Mahseiah, when he went to Babylon with King Zedekiah of Judah. This was during the fourth year of Zedekiah's reign. Jeremiah had recorded on a scroll all the terrible disasters that would soon come upon Babylon. He said to Seraiah, "When you get to Babylon, read aloud everything on this scroll. Then say, 'LORD, you have said that you will destroy Babylon so that neither people nor animals will remain here. She will lie empty and abandoned forever.' Then, when you have finished reading the scroll, tie it to a stone, and throw it into the Euphrates River. Then say, 'In this same way Babylon and her people will sink, never again to rise, because of the disasters I will bring upon her.'"This is the end of Jeremiah's messages.
