Matthew 7:12
So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.
Very simply put; if you want others to respect you, you should learn how to respect others first. First of all, you must know what is respect in order to be able to respect others. If your upbringing, creed, education and experience has never taught you what is respecting others, what a pathetic situation you are in, you must be able to realize that first. Only when you are humble enough to admit it that, you have been raised that way and would want changes to come, will this happen to you. If you are too proud in your heart to admit your lack, how in the world are you ever going to learn this truth. This principle goes the same for all things in life.
If you do not want others to be greedy, you yourself must not be greedy first. If you do not accept bribery or corruption, you must not bribe others in the first place. If you do not want others to cheat you, you must not cheat others first. If you do not want others to be unfair to you, you must not be unfair to others first. We can go on and on with many examples like this. If you do not want others to be arrogant, you must be able to show that example first. If you want others to control the wagging of their tongues as they please, you should show it first. If you can't produce what you expect from others yourself, then just forget about preaching and teaching. You are just not cut out for it. Don't pretend like you can anymore. It's enough, we are tired of this. You really don't know what "golden-rule" means. What "sums up the law and the prophets"? This golden rule sums it up?
If you do not know this basic rule and do not know how to apply it to your life, then what are you going to teach and preach? Sit down and think for a moment. Don't sit there thinking how great you, when you are nothing. You don't even know what is the golden rule. The law and the prophets? Who and what are they? Aren't they examples of how you could be obedient to God? In which way have you known this? Have you been an example of this yourself? What have you been busy with all this while? Which rule? How to be rich rule? Is that your golden rule? What have you turn others into? Greedy and covetous like you? That's the golden rule for you? You want others to submit to your leadership, do you really submit yourself to the leadership of Christ as the Head of His body or as your personal Shepherd? If you do, how come you live according to the urges and desires of the sinful nature of the Devil in you? You should be obeying all that Christ had commanded. Are you doing that?
1 Peter 2: 24-25
"He himself bore our sins" in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; "by his wounds you have been healed." For "you were like sheep going astray," but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.
