Ezekiel 14:12-14
The word of the LORD came to me: "Son of man, if a country sins against me by being unfaithful and I stretch out my hand against it to cut off its food supply and send famine upon it and kill its men and their animals, even if these three men--Noah, Daniel and Job--were in it, they could save only themselves by their righteousness, declares the Sovereign LORD.
One great example of 'one against many' situation is the Lord Jesus Christ. He wasn't afraid of the many against Him. The disciples were and they ran and hid themselves. Even Peter, the closest became the furthest from the Lord. He denied that he was with the Lord at three different times. The other example of 'one against many' is Jonah. Many of the other prophets of the LORD in the Bible were in a 'one against many' situations. Did they chicken out? No! why because God was with them. Even though they were caught in a 'one against many' situation, they weren't afraid. God was with them. So were Noah, Daniel and Job, they were in that same 'one against many' situation. Did they give up doing what God had told them to do? No, they never moved away an inch from doing what God had told them to do. God makes mention of them here through Ezekiel, another faithful prophet of the LORD.
It's not that heroic feeling of serving the LORD that will carry you through. It's that unwavering trust in the LORD that He is behind this. That thought alone gave them the assurance and strength to do God's will till the end, without fearing any human being who stood in their way. They did not change their positions when they were tested. They stood firm on God's promises and never took sides with the many. They were resolutely on God's side till the end of their days. Something to admire in them. This example will also be applied to one nation against many nations on the whole. God's nation is a holy nation. When we say, holy nation, we don't mean having arrogant eyes, way of doing things, behaviour and speech. That's not God's holy nation. God's holy nation is different. Every citizen of God's holy nation obey everything Christ had commanded and not pick and choose what they want to obey. They don't at other times obey the sinful nature of the Devil in them. They don't obey the sinful nature of the Devil in them when it comes to money or making more money for themselves or their families. They don't obey and disobey the Lord Jesus Christ at the same time. They only obey the Lord Jesus Christ and everything He has commanded them, even when it hurts them badly. They stand firm.
Proverbs 10:25
When the storm has swept by, the wicked are gone, but the righteous stand firm forever
