1 Thessalonians 2: 4-5
On the contrary, we speak as those approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel. We are not trying to please people but God, who tests our hearts. You know we never used flattery, nor did we put on a mask to cover up greed--God is our witness.
Have they corrupted you with greed and covetousness? Have they told you that it's okay to continue living a lifestyle like the world, seeking the things of the world? That's for their own benefit too! They would use flattery by offering you high positions and recognitons for your investments in their evil pursuits. They wear a religious mask by saying :"You are serving God. God is going to bless you richly" Actually they were only talking confidently about the blessing they were receiving from you, not in God. That's to cover up their greed. They will say it is all for God's work. Well, check the bank accounts of their wives, children and relatives. Check the properties under their names. How come they don't teach their kind to do the same?
Can you entrust what God tells you to these kind of people? Won't they corrupt it with their worldly desires and greed. They will see if, they can do some new business through you. That's why you should stay away from such people. It will corrupt you with worldly passions and desires. Even if you are hard-up for money, don't go to them. You will be defiled by the sinful nature of the Devil in them which is still not put to death. It is not enough to claim that you are one who belongs to Christ, you must obey everything He has commanded for His divine nature to be formed in you. First of all, you must deal with the sinful nature of the Devil in you.
Acts13:10
"You are a child of the devil and an enemy of everything that is right! You are full of all kinds of deceit and trickery. Will you never stop perverting the right ways of the Lord?
